You guys! I’m so excited! Today, I found out that my Road Trip Hooded Scarf is one of the top crochet patterns trending right now on Annie’s website.

I have always been really proud of this one. Now I’m even more proud to see so many other people enjoying it.

I came up with the idea on a drive we have done as a family many times from our home in Colorado to visit family for Thanksgiving in Oklahoma. It was cold in the middle of the night. I was sitting in the passenger seat of the car wishing for something to wrap myself in and snuggle down to try to sleep while I had a break from driving.

Then we got to a truck stop in the middle of the night, and I was in my “travel clothes” (aka, pajama pants and a sweatshirt). I wished I could throw my wallet in a pocket and toss up a hood to run in the store during the November cold.

And so, the Road Trip Hooded Scarf was born.

I picked up yarn when we reached our destination. I worked on it the whole way home. It was then that I realized the pattern was not just a Road Trip scarf because of its application but because it was a great project to work on during a cross-country journey.

I love this scarf. It is warm, cozy, useful, and stylish. It has pockets and an oversized hood.

I hope you love it as much as I do. It’s my favorite winter scarf.

It is available on Annie’s website for $3.99 for an instant download or $4.99 printed out and mailed. It’s not available anywhere else, so get yours today!

The Road Trip Hooded Scarf was also published in the Autumn 2018 issue of Crochet! Magazine. If you don’t have a subscription yet, you can get yours here.

Yarn on,

Kati

  1. Having trouble with row 26 on hood. It says to fold in half lengthwise but I can’t see how it makes a hood. Can you please explain it for me?

    1. Deanna,
To keep an even stitch count, it would have to be (ch 1, dc2tog) across. Decreases with a chain between each one would still give you the same amount of stitches at the end and continue the rectangle.
