The Dragon Cross Body Bag is a wonderful project. It is by far one of my best selling patterns. Many people have made their own dragon purses (in many cool colors too!) and had great success with it.

As you might have guessed, my nerdy side took hold and after a certain hard-to-watch episode of Game of Thrones, I decided a Frost Dragon purse needed to be made.

So I made some adjustments to the original pattern, and viola! Frost Dragon Cross Body Bag!

These are modifications to the original pattern, not the whole pattern. If you already have your copy of the Dragon Cross Body Bag, you are good to go! Just change the face frills, horns, and nostrils as directed below.

If you already have the Dragon Cross Body Bag pattern, you can download a printable addon of the Frost Dragon Modifications below.

(This is ONLY the modifications below. This does not include the whole Dragon Cross Body Bag pattern; it is intended as an addon for people who already have the Dragon Cross Body Bag pattern.)

If you DO NOT have your copy of the Dragon Cross Body Bag, get it here for only $5.00.

The newly updated pattern now includes the Frost Dragon Modifications on the end of the pattern. That’s two patterns for the price of one — the original Dragon and the Frost Dragon!

You can purchase the hardware here as well, via Etsy!

The original Dragon Cross Body Bag uses crocodile stitches in a triangle to texture the face. The Frost Dragon has four horns that angle away from his face, and the crocodile stitches from a ridge across his brow.

The Frost Dragon Mods also add slits for nostrils instead of large, round nostrils. This makes the nose seem more narrow.

  1. People should read all posts before adding their 2 cents! Write to the designer in question before jumping to conclusions and leaving nasty remarks, for all to see! This is a very unkind thing to do to a generous designer such as Kati! Her other designs are amazing & many of them are free!

Thank you Kati, you do Great work!

  2. Sorry that a poorly managed facebook page has caused you this headache. I am looking forward to making the bag and will be purchasing the pattern. You can’t control what other people post.

  3. I sent a direct email to the page that posted that your bag was free. Told them it was wrong what they were doing. I hope they at least change their wording.
I love it so much that I’m gonna pay you for it, since it is begging me to make it. 🙂

    1. Thank you. 🙂 I sent them an email this morning as well and I hope they correct their actions. It is wrong to mislead people the way they are doing, and even worse knowing someone else will get the blame for their actions. 🙁 On a much happier note, I hope you love the pattern and I hope to see pictures when you are done. 🙂

    1. I had no idea that was there! I will be contacting them RIGHT NOW! Thank you for pointing this out! Thank you, thank you!

      1. I thought you should know that they have not corrected their page and are still claiming that the pattern is free.

    1. Great bag!!! Btw, that site STILL has a link here saying the pattern is free. A year later. I can relate, as I am an audiobook narrator and there are MANY scam sites that do similar stuff to my work 🙁

  4. False advertising…it says it’s free, Ohhh…you get the modifications free once you buy the pattern…I’m sorry, that’s shady.
“Dragon Cross Body Bag Free Crochet Pattern” is what it says… in the post…sneaky sneaky…

    1. The page is titled “Frost Dragon Mods for Dragon Cross Body Bag.” I’m sorry you felt misled, but that was never my intention. The Dragon Cross Body Bag came out a few years ago, and when Game of Thrones added a grey dragon with blue eyes, I modified the pattern. I wanted everyone who had the Dragon Cross Body Bag pattern to be able to do the same modifications, so I published them for free. Also, as a result of the popularity of Game of Thrones, I did not include it in the Premium Pattern because it could be viewed as a copyright violation, so I made it available for free.

  5. I am a bit confused! The pattern says its free in more than one place and yet when I click on the link it takes me to a Frost Dragon Mods and finally a link to the paid pattern. Could you clear that up, please?

    1. The modifications (the pattern shown on the page) is free. The free pattern is to modify the Dragon Cross Body Bag pattern, which is for sale in the shop. I occasionally put up free ways to modify Premium Patterns. This is one of them.

      1. Don’t be angry with this designer- She didn’t post that the actual bag was free, other websites did. The Frost Dragon modifications are free, and the other websites advertising this pattern should make sure that is specified.
