Fire Hydrant | Free Crochet Pattern
I had so much fun last week designing Fuzz, my new little puppy, that I decided he needed some accessories. His first accessory is his very own fire hydrant. This is a fast pattern, and a great addition to any dog’s toy box.
I mean, what dog doesn’t need a good hydrant?
Supplies
Red Heart Super Saver worsted weight yarn, less than 50 yds.
Furls Odyssey G (4.25 mm) hook
Polyfil
Tapestry needle
Abbreviations
BLO: Back loops only.
FLO: Front loops only.

Ch 2.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6)
Rnd 2: Sc evenly around. (6)
Rnd 3: Inc in each st around. (12)
Rnd 4: [sc, inc] 6 times. (18)
Rnd 5: [2 sc, inc] 6 times. (24)
Rnd 6-10: Sc evenly around.
Rnd 11: (FLO) [sc, inc] 12 times. (36)
Rnd 12-13: Sc evenly around. (36)
Rnd 14: [sc, dec] 12 times. (24)
Rnd 15: [sc, dec] 6 times. (18)
Rnd 16: (FLO) Sc evenly around.
Rnd 17-25: Sc evenly around.
Stuff.
Rnd 26: [sc, inc] 9 times. (27)
Rnd 27: [2 sc, inc] 9 times. (36)
Rnd 28-29: Sc evenly around.
Rnd 30: [sc, dec] 12 times. (24)
Rnd 31: [dec] 12 times. (12)
Rnd 32: [dec] 6 times. (6)
Cut yarn. Thread needle through back loops of remaining 6 stitches. Pull tight to close. Flatten bottom. Using same yarn, thread up through round 21 to round 16 (from bottom to top of the flattened bottom). Thread down through next stitch. Continue around to permanently flatten bottom of hydrant.
Repeat sewing around top “lip” of hydrant by threading yarn from round 11 to round 15 and sewing between them. See video for clarification.
Side Piece
Ch 2.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in second ch from hook. (6)
Rnd 2: Sc evenly around. (6)
Rnd 3: (BLO) Inc in each st around. (12)
Rnd 4: Sc evenly around. (12)
Bind off, leaving long tail for sewing. Add small amount of stuffing. Using tail, sew to side of hydrant.
Hydrants can have 1, 2, or 3 Side Pieces.

I found a couple small errors.
After the (sc, dec) 6 x
It doesn’t say to then do 6 sc
And also on the side piece, on round 2, I believe it should be increase around 6x
